It’s funny that you mention the Christmas Story movie. I’ve had a tradition of watching the movie every year, but didn’t have a chance this Christmas. I always find something new and funny each time I watch it. What a classic.

Watching Christmas movies like the one you mentioned – Christmas Story. An absolute classic Christmas movie. We also really get into listening to the music. Two of the local radio stations have been playing Christmas music non-stop since Thanksgiving. Have a great holiday!

@JessicaW – Thank you. My wife went back and forth for a long time on the color. But now that they are up, she’s glad she went with purple. Next up is borrowing a steamer, and getting the wrinkles out

@Ed & TheHappyRock – Those advent activities sound like a lot of fun. I think we’ll be incorporating that kind of stuff here in a year or two.

@Ed and DD – We bought an advent train that has a different compartment for each 24 days. We filled it with candy, and or notes for a treasure hunt around the house. The treasure hunt has been great fun and at the end of each hunt with the candy there is a note with a Christmas fact or note telling the boys a good teaching to focus on for the day. The Pebble has absolutely loved it and the train will be in the family for years.

We started doing the advent thing this year. We light candles on Sunday night, sing a song, and talk to each other about Christmas’ meaning.
Also, I bought some chestnuts with the intent on roasting them “on an open fire” this Thursday.
