I got 6 months of FREE verizon DSL in a story pretty similiar but the other way around. I called verizon to cancel after I had already set my comcast installation appointment. I had to keep basic cable, otherwise the speed gets lowered on my internet and the costs get raised on my internet and phone because it was a bundled discount. I was already paying the full price for internet, and they offered me $19.99 for six months. As far as I know there isn't any fine print to read, and even if there is it still saves me over $100 dollars. This is third time that I have had internet at $19.99 without switching or renewing service. Their willingness to be helpful is part of the reason, I haven't left Comcast.
