You can own a small piece of property, up to 1&#039; square and it gives you the right to call yourself a &quot;lord&quot;.
Mostly, it&#039;s due to the fact that owning land made you the landlord of a property.
Thus you are the &quot;&#039;lard of the land&quot; or &quot;Lordship&quot; one that owns land.

That&#039;s what made these so popular - even with some folks still today. It&#039;s a fairly affordable gift. Well under the $1K price - believe it&#039;s around $20-$30 now.</description>
